Discover how to make creamy, spicy Cajun Shrimp Alfredo at home. A bold, easy pasta recipe perfect for dinner in under 30 minutes!
12 oz (340g) fettuccine pasta
1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tbsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 ½ cups heavy cream
¾ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Optional: a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook the fettuccine according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, toss shrimp with Cajun seasoning until fully coated.
Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter.
Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine.
Let it simmer gently for 3–4 minutes until it starts to thicken.
Stir in Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper. Keep stirring until the sauce is silky smooth.
Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the Alfredo sauce.
Return the shrimp to the skillet and mix gently.
Simmer for 1–2 more minutes to heat through.
Garnish with chopped parsley and a hint of lemon juice, if desired.
Serve hot with garlic bread or a fresh green salad on the side.
Adjust the Heat: Cajun seasoning can vary in spice level. Start with 1 tablespoon if you’re sensitive to heat, and increase to taste.
Use Fresh Parmesan: Freshly grated Parmesan melts better and gives the sauce a smoother, richer texture than pre-packaged options.
Cream Substitutes: You can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter sauce, though it may not be as thick.
Add Veggies: Feel free to toss in sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers to make it a more complete one-pan meal.
Make it Gluten-Free: Use your favorite gluten-free pasta to keep it GF-friendly.
Double Up: This recipe easily doubles for meal prep or to serve a larger crowd. Just make sure to use a large skillet!
